School's out for the summer (soon anyways)! But should you also put your dance training on hold? Obviously we're a little biased, but dancing over the summer can have many benefits for your training and not to mention, it's FUN!

  1. Maintain your skills - You've worked hard all year to improve your technique as well as learn new skills. Unfortunately, when taking an extended break from any physical activity, it can take some time to get back into shape once you start up again. By dancing through the summer, you will continue to work on your technique and continue to improve, setting yourself up for an even better school year come September!
  2. Improve your technique and artistry - As mentioned above, dancing over the summer is a great way to maintain your skills but it also allows you to continue improving. Learning new styles, taking classes with different teachers and participating in new choreography are all elements of a summer program that can enrich your dance training and improve your dancing in ways you may not have considered before.
  3. New friendships - Summer programs can attract new students to a studio and are great ways to make new friends and build new relationships
  4. Keep your mind engaged - Continuing to dance over the summer keeps your brain engaged, working on memory skills, coordination, pattern recognition, focus and time management skills.

Summer dance programs provide a unique experience for dancers to focus primarily on dance, allowing them to work on their technique and artistry without having additional stresses of school work and academic tests. This can jump-start their progress and can allow them to improve faster during the academic year.  For more information about our summer program, visit our web page here
